Donating to Rescue Shelters
At Nature Gnaws, we always want to help the underdog. That’s why we started the Gnaw It Forward Initiative in 2016. This is where we donate our product to organizations that are helping foster, rescue and find new homes for dogs. In 2021 we donated 9,600 boxes of our natural dog chews to rescue shelters across the United States! We are so thankful to the organizations and people who make this possible, and we are really happy that we can provide natural chews to these pups who are waiting for their furever home.
“We know there have been ups and downs for everyone over the past few years, and we particularly know that rescue shelters are working harder than ever to take in surrendered, abandoned dogs, or dogs off the street, and doing really anything to keep these dogs from being put down.” says Steve Mamak, Co-Founder and CEO at Nature Gnaws. “We have been in close touch with our contacts and friends who run shelters and initiatives nationwide for rescues, and this is one way we can help.”
Making a Difference in Rescue Shelters for Dogs in Need
Jay Mokbel, Co-founder and COO of Nature Gnaws said “We donated to over 29 shelters and initiatives locally and nationwide over the last year. It’s certainly hard to see dogs in shelters but we are happy that we have a product that can help these dogs gnaw and chew to relieve anxiety or provide entertainment and mental stimulation. We know shelter workers are working extra hard these days so if we can do anything to help relieve the situation, we are more than happy to be of service.”
Compared to the pampered lives our household pets may live, many of these rescues and shelters do not have the means or funding to spend extra income on chews or treats and rely solely on donations. We are grateful to be able to have the resources to help, and we couldn’t do it without our loyal customers.
“There are about 3,943 community animal shelters nationwide that are independent; there is no national organization monitoring these shelters. The phrases “humane society” and “SPCA” are generic terms; shelters using those names are not part of the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.” Source Material: Facts About Animal Sheltering.
